Countdown

To a better, greener, healthier, thriving, resilient, fairer, cooler, creative future.

Between 12 October and 12 November 2021, TED Countdown brought together 1000 leaders in Edinburgh to share a blueprint for a net-zero future, and COP26 met in Glasgow to accelerate climate action around the Paris Agreement.

TEDxJohannesburg, along with hundreds of other groups around the world, hosted parallel events and activations.

TEDxJohannesburg Countdown took place on Thursday, 4 November 2021, and was a full-scale virtual event featuring local speakers alongside selected recordings of the best talks from TED Countdown.

The event brought together scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, urban planners, farmers, CEOs, investors, artists, government officials, and others, to find the most effective, evidence-based ideas out there.

Our goal was to identify the bold solutions activated when people break out of their silos and rise to the challenge.
